My story

I feel like Katie Lockhart Art is the culmination of years of dreaming, learning, and preparing. As many artists will tell you, I have had a deep yearning to create for as long as I can remember. From gifting my friends hand lettered pieces in elementary school to completing my bachelor’s degree in fine art in 2010, I have always wanted to work with my hands. After graduation I painted a little, crafted a lot, and ultimately struggled to find my way with my creative endeavors…but I view that as no accident. In 2023 I couldn’t stifle the desire to follow my gut any longer, but I was having a bit of an art identity crisis. Everyone everywhere seemed to be telling me to niche down, but that felt debilitating to me. I have too many ideas in too many styles and mediums! Emotions and seasons are constantly changing, and thus my art ebbs and flows a great deal. It was when I finally realized I don’t have to follow any rules…that I can create expressive art on my own terms with no restrictions…that I felt freedom, and my passion truly ignited. I feel that God was using each of my former projects to prepare me for where I am now, and I cannot express my gratitude for this moment. I am so thankful for every breadcrumb I followed to get here, and I am so excited to connect with you through art. Let’s make things pretty!
