Many of us have heard about, and some of us are currently experiencing the emergence of large numbers of cicadas during this “double brood” year.
Growing up in the country, it was common to hear the hum of the cicadas in the Summer, and I remember collecting the little brown “shells” they left behind. It only feels fitting that the first Summer in our new home on the very spot of land where I grew up would be in line with this very rare occurrence. It just felt right to commemorate this phenomenon with this entomology inspired artwork.
This piece was originally created using acrylic paint on paper. It was digitized for reproduction on UNFRAMED Lyve™ canvas which has a tight and even weave that is renowned for producing fine detail and terrific images. The Lyve™ Canvas is a 19 mil bright white, consistent poly-cotton blend matte canvas with an acid-free, neutral pH coating making it archival certified for 100+ years.
